Sixten Ivarsson
Along With Poul Rasmussen, Sixten Ivarsson is considered the father of High Grade Pipes. I've often heard it said that most modern artisans can do the work that Sixten did, although with better details. While that may be true, it is worth considering that Sixten did it first. Everything he did he cut from whole cloth, and while his work may have been surpassed, we all stand on his shoulders and benefit from his innovative spirit. Worth mentioning is the fact that in 1969, the average cost of a brand new car was ~$2000. The cost of a Sixten Ivarsson pipe . . . $500!
